Reflections on Judaism: Hebrew Name

My Hebrew name is Adira. Adira means strong. I was given this name because when I was born I had many health problems. My lungs were not fully functional and I was severely underweight. The doctors said I wouldn't make it, however, somehow I fought through and survived. Therefore my parents named me Adira, as a permanent identifier of the mental and physical strength I carry with me through the rest of the challenges I may face in my lifetime. This name reminds me to be a fighter and never give up no matter the odds.
