Jewish Rituals: Washing for Bread

2 Points
Washing morning v1

Everyone knows that Jews love to eat – but we also try to make eating a spiritual experience. One of the ways is by washing our hands before breaking bread and making a special blessing. The goal isn’t only for cleanliness – but rather to elevate the experience of eating from a mundane physical act to a spiritual experience.

Instructions:

  1. Take a picture of you washing your hands
    • Wash your hands by pouring water from a cup three times, first onto your right hand, and then onto your left.

  2. If you're inclined to recite the blessing, you can find it here.

  3. If this was your first time, how did you feel? If not, please share with us why you enjoy washing your hands before eating bread.
